I've been working on my drawing of the groom. I'm making this block in place of the pattern's block 6. From what I've read, this would have been the block for the groom but for whatever reason, there wasn't a groom and white flowers were put in his place.
I decided to copy the bride block. In place of apples, I've put oranges simply because I live in California and I like oranges, and it gives me something different to applique. I made him a simple country boy and he's the same height as the bride. I'll embroider his hair instead of appliqueing it on. I wanted to have a little fun with this block so my bride has been busy on her treadle and has made him a pair of suspenders to match her dress.
So here's a picture of the drawing I made of the groom. It's rough but it works.

It's such a mystery why there's no groom, isn't it? I hope the maker of the original quilt found happiness in her life.
